The person behind the pour
About
Hello, I'm Tina.
I strongly believe it is never too late to reinvent yourself.
For a long time I followed a path shaped by other people's definitions of success. I completed an MSc in Economics at the University of Warwick with distinction and was headhunted into a well-known IT company as a software consultant. I enjoyed the intellectual challenge and thrived professionally, but I never felt completely true to myself.
During my maternity leave I finally had the space to reflect on what truly excites me. Aside from my family and friends, one passion stood out clearly: wine.
My father owns a vineyard in Slovenia, close to my home country Austria, so I grew up in a world where wine was not just a drink but something with real cultural weight. Grapes from his vineyard still go into the blend at Grenzliebe, the cooperative he is part of. I also spent time working in my late stepfather's wine shop, and I have always been fascinated by the aromas and the stories that surround every bottle.
As a mother of two wonderful daughters, I realised that if I am going to spend time away from them, it should be doing something that brings joy, not just to me but to others too. Over the past four years I have earned my Sommelier accreditation through the Italian Sommelier Association and completed WSET Level 3. Now I host relaxed evenings that combine wine tastings with creative activities, bringing people together to fill their cups. Pun intended.
The focus is on exploring the full potential of wine by pairing it with the right food. Wine and food shouldn't just match, they should elevate each other. I especially enjoy comparing emerging players, hello English sparkling, with more established regions, and encouraging people to challenge their expectations. Wine is best enjoyed with curiosity, conversation and connection.
Here's to new beginnings.
